Eye in the Sky: Infrastructure Monitoring Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles- Close Range Photogrammetry Technology – Surya Sarat Chandra Congress & Amit Gajurel

Introduction

S CongressDr. Surya Sarat Chandra Congress is an Associate Research Scientist in Civil Engineering, at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA. He worked on TxDOT and NSF funded research projects under the supervision of Dr. Puppala. As a part of these projects, he has been involved in the monitoring of civil infrastructure health conditions by collecting pavement, railway, and bridge distress data using unmanned aerial vehicles coupled with close-range photogrammetry. His areas of research interest include sensor-based infrastructure, ground improvement techniques, and smart city concepts using innovative sensors and smart monitoring technologies. His background in transportation and geotechnical engineering is helpful in the studies conducted pertaining to infrastructure asset management. He is also a member of two national academy’s Transportation Research Board committees. He delivered a Bright Spark Keynote Lecture on the research topic “Application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles-Close Range Photogrammetry (UAV-CRP) for Monitoring Infrastructure Assets” in the international conference: GeoMEast-2018 in Cairo, Egypt.
